Yule

This incident is of last Yule, when we went to grandma’s place. My grandma lives near the sea in an old house. We went there to spend the Christmas and New Year. However, I along with my brother went there for another reason. We planned to explore an old house, which was around one mile from my grandma’s place and was on a manmade island near the coast. Locals use to name it House Island and consider it haunted.
On 23rd evening we packed our bags. The boot of the car was packed unto the brim. We reached there in the morning. It was still dark. After a few hours’ rest, we started towards the coast. When we came near the sea, suddenly a tramp like man appeared just behind us. He was wearing a large cloak like a monk. We got scared. He seemed drunk as his voice was incoherent and was holding a bottle. He bowed his head and showed me his empty wallet and said, “You owed me money, give me my money.” We were so scared that we just ran towards grandma’s place without saying anything. After reaching there, we just scrambled into our beds and went to sleep after covering us by blankets. The next day, grandma showed us our great-grandfather’s official seal and his pen made out of feathers. Our great-grandfather was a judge. We became busy in the next couple of days due to Christmas.
After Christmas, we again went near the coast. We again met the tramp. He was singing a song. We could only understand,” Sing upon coin, sing upon coin.” This time we were not scared as grandma had told us that he was “Old George” and he never harmed anybody. It was almost dusk and we thought to visit the haunted house. There was a boat tied with the jetty. We started peddling and reached House Island. We saw candles flickering inside the house. Suddenly we saw men and they were handling cargo boxes. We peddled back frantically and ran back towards the house. We told everything to dad. He informed police and they all were arrested. Actually they were thieves. They only spread the haunted house rumors as they wanted to keep the stolen goods there. Cops were very happy. They praised and thanked us.
